REVERSO PROJECT

REVERSO is an ongoing project that explores the abstraction of the human form through movement. The work begins by photographing people in spontaneous motion. Before photographing them, I invite participants to share something about their lives as memories, cultural background, or personal experiences, which becomes part of the starting point for the work. From the photographs, a single moment is selected and used as the basis for a sculpture.

Rather than recreating the body itself, I focus on distilling the essence of a movement and the emotion it carries. Working intuitively with clay, the forms emerge as interpretations of that instant rather than literal representations of the figure. Each sculpture becomes a translation of a body in motion, shaped by both the subject’s gesture and my response to their story.

Over time, REVERSO has also expanded into live performances, in which I sculpt directly from moving bodies in real time. These performances bring the sculptural process into the present moment and create a direct relationship between the body, the material, and the viewer.

My work is not about representing the body, but using the body as a passage, between inner movement and the external world. I explore how movement as an emotional journey shapes our identity. The works emerge as traces of movement and emotion, fragments of human experience held within material.
